Channeling Thoughts & Feelings

We’re working for the big machine,
The way they treat us is obscene,
They suck us dry to get a Wall Street gain;
They tell us how we are to act,
Integrity, ethics and tact,
Them spring upon us like they’ve gone insane.
They tell us we should suck it up,
“Be a man. It’s just tough luck,
All companies are doing what we’ve done.”
Let me tell you we’re unique,
Your thoughtless moves have stuck us deep,
We can’t sit by and watch our money run.
We’ve always done what we’ve been told,
The time has come to break the mold,
You can’t just screw your team and walk away;
You’ve tried this nasty trick before,
Our benefits walked out the door,
Except for those with balls to lead the way.
The union stood in eighty nine,
And dared us all to cross the line,
As they refused to let you make amends;
They were never blinded by,
The propaganda that would fly,
In hopes of taking more for dividends.
The CWA… got their way,
You’d save it for another day,
Meanwhile management would bear the load;
With corporate hats we said “OK,”
Our benefits were sucked away,
But deep inside we’re ready to explode.
Please let us know the reason why,
The impact seems to pass you by,
You always seemed to dance and get your share;
You don’t work harder than we do,
If cuts are made then why not you?
Your attitude just screams you do not care.
You’ve always said we are a team,
But talk is cheap, you’re in a dream,
How about a big cut in your pay?
At certain firms, the CEO
Took a cut to help them grow,
I bet that team felt special on that day.
Imagine seeing leadership,
Truly give, without the lip,
I know that may be hard to understand;
You ought to see the lesson there,
Then look around, that’s if you dare,
And somehow take your head out of the sand.
It would send a message to us all,
That, at times, when duty calls,
We ALL step up and take one for the team;
The words you say are clear and true,
“It’s not for me, it’s just for you.”
Guess I’m the one who’s living in a dream.
At times I wander aimlessly,
At times I have a goal;
Sometimes I’m sinking helplessly into an endless hole.
I’ve very little confidence,
I’ve made some bad mistakes;
I don’t rely upon myself,
I don’t have what it takes.
Just when I feel it’s certain that there is no end in sight;
I think about my family and suddenly there’s light.
A light that shows me quickly it’s the reason I am here;
A light that lets me recognize the ones I hold so dear.
My wife has been my backbone ‘cause I have none of my own;
My boys have shown the strength it takes to set the proper tone.
My boys and wife have given me the loving I have sought;
And trust me, it is way more love then I had ever thought.
All I can say is, “Thank You,”
For always being there;
I need to say “I love you” too for showing that you care.
I know that I’m not easy,
I know I’m quite contrite;
But thanks again for loving me and showing me the light.
The light that led to happiness,
The light that makes me proud;
To be a thankful member of this faithful loving crowd.
Shots ring out, people shout,
Chaos and despair;
A mother shields her baby boy,
As bullets fill the air.
Screams and cries, a person dies,
It’s horror in real time;
A shooter sprays the room with hate,
Another senseless crime.
Some will say that on this day,
A tragedy occurred;
They ask us for our thoughts and prayers,
But is our vision blurred?
Can’t we see a tragedy,
Needs more than candlelight?
Can’t we see it’s up to us,
To finally stand and fight?
Take back the country, nows the time,
We’ve let it go too long;
Take back the country, nows the time,
We’re bleeding and it’s wrong.
The mother dies, the baby cries,
The father is dead, too;
Many others also shot,
The blames on me and you.
In Columbine in ‘99,
We said that we would change;
Instead we did the same old thing,
We think we’re out of range.
But we’re not, the latest shot,
Is aimed at you and me;
“This can’t ever happen here,”
You’re wrong if you agree.
Take back the country, now’s the time,
It’s slipping from our grip;
Take back the country, now’s the time,
It’s more than giving lip.
On the next day and miles away,
Again the bullets fly;
Is it coincidental it’s another young white guy?
No it’s not, with every shot,
Comes hate and more divide;
Driven by our leadership,
The races will collide.
Be a man and lead the land,
The blood is in the air;
But you won’t, you never have,
You’ll spin what’s clearly there.
Take back the country, nows the time,
The people must rise up,
Take back the country, now it’s time,
The time is finally up.
